New Painting: Lone Boat Series

It's been a while since I worked on a "Lone Boat" painting; this one was just finished up today, on a blue sky afternoon, outside on a rare winter respite kind of day here in the mountains. The moon appeared first, through the trees, a blush of vanishing sunset fading. The boat appears, floating silently on water, serene, peaceful, yet moving through the current, to an unseen place.

"...In your sail-boat of sweet cinnamon-wood
You will float again toward your own thatch door,
Led along by distant trees
To a sunset shining on a far-away town.
...What though your purpose happened to fail,
Doubt not that some of us can hear high music." ~ Wang Wei, Chinese poet/Tang Dynasty
